Fish for your East Texas pond

If you have made it through the rest of the steps in this guide, you should by now, have a nicely vegetated pond,

with a nice blue green tint to the water. Your next step? Add the fish.

As I said at the beginning, you cannot hope to support any bass in a pond that has no more than a surface acre of water. The best fish for a small pond, is catfish.

If you want big individual fish, you might want to try blue catfish, if you want a high yield of quality fish, channel cat is probably your best bet.

Adding a batch of fathead minnows will help to increase the yield.

It is possible to sustain a very large number of healthy catfish in a small pond, but you will need to plan regular supplemental feedings to do so.

I will have more information and a follow up coming soon. Check back here periodically, for more detailed pages.
